![]() ![]() Just because Embedded/POSReady 2009 are "supported" for another 5 years does not mean they'll get regular security updates. I downloaded the ISO with a size of 640MB, meaning it perfectly fits on a single CD.Īlso, if all these firms were aware of this, they could've saved themselves millions by just using this OS instead.ĮDIT: POSReady 2009 isn't the only XP-based OS with 5 more years of support Windows Embedded Standard 2009 also ends in 2019. If you are concerned about your security due to the end of support, and want to continue using XP, switch to POSReady 2009 now. The fact that it has support for 5 more years, and performs extremely fast and fluid on my 3GB RAM computer, and has all the same things as XP, I think it is a very great OS. ![]() The WINVER reads 'Embedded POSReady 2009' but everything else is basically XP. but also share the same kernel (well it's NT 5.2 like Server 2003, but it's almost the same), meaning that ALL XP software is compatible (and yes, I have tested Office and it worked normally). I have tested the OS and can promise you that it is identical to a normal XP SP3. Windows Embedded POSReady 2009, an XP-based operating system designed for POS devices, will get extended support until April 2019. ![]()
